The prospects are looking good for Murray at the moment. His biggest threat was Roger Federer, who of course beat him in the Wimbledon final this year, but Federer, to everyone's surprise, lost to Czech Tomas Berdych in the US open quarter-final. Murray has since won his own quarter-final match against Croatian Marin Cilic, and will play against Berdych in the semi-final on Saturday (8 September). If he wins, he will play either Novak Djokovic or Spain's David Ferrer.

Berdych is the world No. 6 and has beaten Murray in four of their six previous matches. Murray has said that he knows Berdych is hard to beat, and has vowed to be on top form throughout the match on Saturday, unlike in his quarter-final meeting wiht Cilic when he got off to a slow start before improving. He believes variety is the key to beating him, and says he is more confident now because he has had good coaching from former world champion Ivan Lendl

Yes, as a matter of fact, Andy Murray just won his first historic Grand Slam Singles title by defeating defending champion Novak Djokovic in five sets in the final of US Open 2012.
