Rebekah Brooks has been married twice. She was born Rebekah Wade in 1968, and married Ross Kemp, the actor who played Grant Mitchell in Eastenders, in Las Vegas in 2002. They divorced in 2009 but had separated earlier; there seemed to be problems in the marriage from 2005, when Wade was arrested for an alleged assault on her husband (she was later released without charge).

In June 2009 she married Charlie Brooks, a horse trainer and writer. She has no biological children, but in January 2012 a surrogate mother employed by the couple gave birth to a baby girl, Scarlett Anne Mary Brooks.

Brooks has generally guarded her own privacy well, despite her career working for the tabloid press. However, she is very much in the news at the moment as she is appearing in front of the Leveson enquiry and may face corruption charges.
