JLS announced that they would be splitting up in late April 2013, after rumours of a break up had been circulating for some time - in fact it took them three months to make up their minds according to newspaper reports. Fans were very upset, with stories of schoolgirls bursting into tears in class. This was followed by panic in case another very popular boy band, One Direction, might be going to follow the example of JLS, but although there are still stories about this it hasn't happened yet.
In the last few weeks JLs have told their fans that the split won't take place straight away and they will still give a few more performances together, including a big farewell tour.
Some of the band members are clearly distraught at the split, in fact Oritse Williams cried on a chat show when talking about it recently. But other band members are getting on with their careers - for instance, Aston Merrygold is thinking about becoming a record producer in the US.
