Never wash your expensive fine china in the dishwasher as the chemicals in the dishwasher detergent can be very hash and often take the glaze off your china. Remember nothing is 100% dishwasher safe and always wash your fine china by hand if you want it to last longer.

  • Fill a washing up bowl with hot water and a table spoon of washing up liquid.
  • Rinse in plain water
  • Drain on a clean tea towel
  • Final polish with a clean, soft and dry tea towel
  • Stack plates and saucers according to their sizes
  • Interleaving plates with paper plates or white kitchen towel to prevent the glaze get scratched
  • Do not stack bowls or cups of different sizes as they may stick together due to the weight
  • Do not hang fine china cups on hooks. Instead, put them on shelves right side up.

If you have really expensive fine china and you don't use it every day, the best way to store it is to wrap each piece individually in acid free tissue paper, and keep them in the original box.
