Actor George Clooney was arrested on March 16, 2012 outside the Embassy of Sudan in Washington DC, following a protest against the Sudan Government, for attacking the southern regions and its blockage of humanitarian aid.

The Hollywood Star was arrested and taken into custody, accused of crossing a police line without permission.

Clooney is a keen activist with different NGOs and has been advocating for the Darfur conflict (Sudan) since 2006, having visited the area in several occasions and being appointed as a UN Messenger of Peace by the United Nations in 2008.

In recent declarations Clooney said that the Sudanese Government is killing its own people in the Southern regions; North Sudan is taking the oil and keeping the profits, while bombing Darfur, the region of Abyei, the Blue Nile and the Nuba Mountains.
