Brooklyn is one of the most populous neighbourhoods in New York City situated east of the southermost tip of Manhattan.

There is some dispute as to the exact number of inhabitants Brooklyn has because the mayor's office of New York doesn't agree with the numbers provided by the 2010 US census, which counted 2,504,700. However, it is quite safe to say that Brooklyn has an overall population of at least 2.5 million inhabitants.
