British rock band Deep Purple (Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice) wrote "Smoke on the Water". Released in 1972, the song was based on a real story where Deep Purple members watched an accidental gun fire occurred in a concert in Switzerland. Read more here.
