London Calling is the name of a song by The Clash, in an album of the same name.

The Clash were a very well known punk band in London in the 1970s, and London Calling was written and released in 1979. It was written and composed by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, who both played and sang for The Clash as well as writing lyrics. It reached no. 11 in the UK charts in the year it was released.

The song was inspired by the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island in the US in 1979. The lyrics paint a bleak picture of a post nuclear landscape where the Thames has flooded, society has broken down and supplies have run out.

Many critics think London Calling is the Clash's best ever song, even better than their biggest hit 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'. It has been used in several film soundtracks including Billy Elliot.
