Kate Winslet has been married three times. Her first husband was Jim Threapleton, a film director whom she met in 1997 and married the following year, when she was 23. By that time she was already a well known actress, famous for roles in films including Heavenly Creatures and Sense and Sensibility. The couple had one daughter, but divorced in 2001.
Two years after this, Winslet married another director, Sam Mendes. They also had a child together, a son born in December 2003. The couple separated publicly in 2010 and divorced later the same year.
In August 2011, while Winslet was on holiday on Necker Island as a guest of Richard Branson (and incidentally saved his mother from a fire) she met Ned Rocknroll (actual name Ned Smith, but legally changed), He is Richard Branson's nephew and works for his multi-millionaire uncle. The couple have been together ever since and privately married in December 2012.
