Most of her dogs are Welsh corgis. There are two types of this dog: The Pembroke Welsh and the Cardigan Welsh corgi, and the Queen has four Pembroke corgis. She also has three dorgis, which are a mixture of corgi and dachshund. You can find out more about the Queen's dogs here.
She has always loved this breed of dog, which was also a favourite with her parents, and all her current corgis are descended from a corgi called Susan which she was given as a child.
The Pembroke corgi is a small dog with short legs. Unlike the Cardigan, the Pembroke Welsh corgi has no tail. They are intelligent, loyal dogs and make good pets, but they have to be well trained or they can get bossy and occasionally bite.
The Cardigan is probably the older breed and is said to have been in Wales since ancient times, while the Pembroke probably came from Flanders in the12th century. However, in the past the two breeds have often been treated as the same.
