There are only two species of camel: Dromedaries and Bactrians.
The dromedary is the most numerous of the camels, it is estimated that there are 14 million living in the Sahel, Horn of Africa, Maghreeb, the Middle East and India. Dromedaries have a single fatty hump on their back.
The Bactrian Camel lives in China, Mongolia and the Gobi Desert. It is estimated that there are only 1.4 millions of them. In contrast with the dromedary they have two humps and more fur.
