What were the political ideals of the Surrealists?

The political ideals of the surrealists were always confusing and controversial, positioning themselves in the communist or the anarchist ideology but in permanent conflict with
the representatives of both groups.
In the text “When the Surrealists were Right”, signed by the majority of the group, they reaffirmed their support to the working masses and the Revolution, but they again expressed their profound disagreement with the concept of a fatherland that the soviets justified, as well as they denounce their temporary absurd alliance with the capitalist schemes. After this declaration, it will not take long when the Surrealists abandon the official communist doctrines and their evident political attitude attached to the movement during the years, to follow different paths or even to adopt a combative position against their old comrades.
