Pregnancy is an exciting journey to a new future, and a very special time in any woman’s life. The more you get prepared, the easier you get through the journey. Six months ahead of your pregnancy, you need to optimize your nutrition and change bad habits.

Start to take folic acid supplementation and continue up till the 12th week of pregnancy. Folic acid is a vitamin that occurs naturally in certain foods. It helps reduce the risk of pregnancy complications, e.g. Palate, spina bifida, cleft lip, premature labour and etc.

Stop smoking and try not to drink any alcohol. Also retain from taking any illicit drugs. If you are overweight or obese, you need to loose some weight before trying to have a baby. Overweight woman have a higher risk of pre-eclampsia and still birth.
