Is the NGO Invisible Children a scam?

As far as we know, it isn't actually a scam. A scam would be a false organization that pretends to raise money for a charity - in this case, children in Uganda - while secretly taking the funds for another purpose. In this sense, Invisible Children does seem to have genuine concerns, and the issues that are raised in its film are certainly real. There is no doubt that the Lord's Resistance Army has committed appalling crimes, and that it has forced children to take part in these and used them as free labour.
However, there are still a number of concerns about this NGO and the film, Kony 2012, on which it is based. There are worries about how the money is being raised and exactly what is done with it - some critics say that not enough money is being spent on the children themselves - and especially about the interests behind Invisible Children and its links with certain right-wing evangelical organizations.
