It takes earth 365.242 days to orbit around the sun, and at the same time, earth spins on its axis every 24 hours, which brings day and night . Earth is tilted on its axis at an angle of 23.5o while it spins, which produces weather patterns in different places on earth, i.e. seasons.

When the half of earth leans towards the sun, it gets more sun light, heat, and brings summer, while the other half has winter. Throughout the year, most places have seasonal changes except tropical regions. Because the tropical areas are close to the equator or on the equator, and does not tilt away from the sun for most time of the year.
