The name Great Yarmouth is more about the town's size than about its excellence, and this name also distinguishes it from the other Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight. However, many people would also tell you that it's a great place.

People have lived on the site of Great Yarmouth since well before Roman towns, and for hundreds of years it has been an important town, with thriving industries and one of the oldest market places in Britain. Nowadays, though, people associate this town with seaside holidays first and foremost.

Great Yarmouth is the most popular of all the Norfolk seaside resorts. it has large sandy beaches and a lively seafront with piers, arcades, crazy golf and all the usual family attractions as well as stunning scenery. In the historic town itself are several museums, mostly with a maritime theme; or you may prefer the pier theatre or to take out a boat.

Outside the town, you can take a trip to the Norfolk Broads and explore the area by canal boat.
