The area around St Germain des Prés is considered to be the most expensive place to live in Paris. The property price here is about €10000 for a square meter. So if you want a house or flat that is about 100 square meters, it will cost you 1 million Euro. St Germain des Prés used to having famous artists and philosophers who debated in the cafés last century, but nowadays here is packed with foreigners who want a bit of the real Paris.

If you want to buy a property in Paris for investment, and hope the value will increase over the years, then better have a look around the streets near Sentier and Montorgeuil. It has a good mix of residential property, shops, offices, lively bars, cafés and many trendily renovated lofts. The price is around €6000–€7000/m2, but since the area has lots potential, the price will keep going up.
