What type of relationship occurs between bacteria and the soya bean plant?
Answers (1)
The question is: Why not call it symbiotic relationship, i.e. Does the bacterium not benefit from the relationship?
The answer is, it does: It gets carbohydrates from the plant and an oxygen-reduced protected environment (the plant harbours the bacteria in root nodules).
The benefit to the plant is clear of course: It gets fixed nitrogen that it can use.
