The great French cyclist Bernard Hinault (November 14th 1954, Yffiniac, France) won his first Tour de France in 1978 as a rookie but then won the tour 4 times, in 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1985 although it came second in 1984 and in 1986.

Hinault also won the Giro d'Italia in 1982 and 1985, and the Vuelta a Espana in 1978. Bernard Hinault will be remembered as one of the most complete cyclists of all time with Eddie Merckx because he could sprint, climb and time trial with the best.
