Norway has the highest petrol price although it is one of the largest oil export countries in the world. Its current petrol price (2012) is set at £1.64 per liter. The addition of road tax and CO2 tax contributes to the high price.

The second highest country is Turkey with £1.62/liter, followed by Netherlands (£1.48), Italy (£1.46) and Greece (£1.45).

Although the petrol price in Norway is the highest, the cost of filling petrol is less than 8% of average wage in Norway. Comparing to this, the cost of filling petrol in Eritrea costs 61.1% of their income, which makes petrol very unaffordable in Eritrea.
