When did Bradley Wiggins become a professional cyclist?

The brilliant winner of the 2012 Tour de France, Bradley Wiggins, grew a passion for cycling in Kilburn (London) since he was a child. But it was at the age of 12 that he started to race at the Herne Hill Velodrome from where he jumped into the 2000 Olympics to win his first Bronze medal.
Wiggins was an specialist in track but changed to road later on in his career. He won gold medals in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games (in individual pursuit)
