Where was the first nuclear power station built?

June 27 1954 saw the first nuclear power plant become operational in Obninsk outside of Moscow.

The Worlds first commercial nuclear power station to become operational was Calder Hall in Sellafield England which was opened in 1956 with an initial capacity of 50MW later increased to 200MW.

Calder Hall reactors were shut down in 2003.
