One film for which she received a good deal of praise, and which was also regarded by both critics and audiences as a good movie, was Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion. The film was released in 2006 and Altman died soon after; it is about the cast and crew of a radio show (there was a real-life show of this name written by Garrison Keillor).
In the movie Lohan played Meryl Streep's daughter; to begin with it was a smaller part, but Keillor, who also wrote the movie script, made her role more important over time. She is especially remembered for singing songs like Frankie and Johhny in the film.
Lohan has also appeared in more famous films like The Parent Trap, and in late 2012 she starred as Elizabeth Taylor in a TV film about Taylor's marriage to Richard Burton. However, in this case neither the film or her performance have been much praised.
