2013 is already looking good for Nadal, as he has just won the doubles at the VTR Open in Chile, with his partner Juan Monaco. This is a good sign for the rest of the year, and there may be more good news to come after his singles final against Federico Dubonis tomorrow.
Last year Rafael Nadal missed major tournaments. His biggest problem was a knee injury that has caused him trouble off and on for several years. Last year he missed both Wimbledon and the US Open because of it. Then in winter 2012, just when he was recovered from that and hoping to make a comeback in the Australian Open, he had to withdraw from that too due to a severe stomach disorder.
So Nadal fans are very relieved that he has not only got through the Chilean tournament without any problems, but is clearly back on top form; so hopefully he will be seen at all the major events this year.
