A day like today, 25 years ago, Paul Simon released an album that rocked the world: Graceland.

The reason why it rocked the world and created so much controversy is that it not only fused western and african styles but that Paul Simon performed the album with the help of a South African band called Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

However, the band had already been playing and performing their mix of gospel and African rhythms for almost 20 years at that time as the band was formed in Durban in the 1960's.
