What's the origin of the International Women's Day?

The International Women's Day is celebrated every 8th of March. It was first called International Working Women's Day.
On the 29 of February of 1909 in the United States a National Women's Day took place after a meeting of the Socialist Party of America.
In the following years in the rest of the world there were proposals and demonstrations to promote women's rights, like for example the right to vote and workplace discrimination.
In Russia, the International Women's Day started to be celebrated on the last Sunday of February since 1913.
In China, after the proclamation of the People's Republic of China, the International Women's Day started to be appointed every 8th of March and that day worker's could take half of a day off.
After a United Nations Assembly in 1977 it was observed that every 8th of March would be the International's Women's Day, a day for women's rights and equality.
