Catalan is a thousand year old language spoken in the northeastern region of Catalonia, in Spain. It is spoken by almost 10 million people not only in Catalonia, but also in Valencia and the Balearic islands (they speak dialects of Catalan). So, learning Catalan is a good of integrating and showing respect to the people.

If you want to learn catalan there are a few good websites. But remember, the best way to learn a language is actually visit the place and talk to the people!
