According to Guinness World Records, Melvin Boothe from America had the world's longest fingernails. On 30th May 2009, the combined length of his ten fingernails was measured and recorded as 9.85 m (i.e. 32 feet and 3.8 inches) in Troy, Michigan.

Another American named Lee Redmond holds female's longest fingernails record. On 23rd February 2008, the total length of her ten fingernails was measured and recorded as 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in) in Madrid, Spain. Unfortunately, in early 2009, Ms Lee lost her nails in a car accident.
