As well as the quality of the restaurant itself, you may want to look at other factors such as location - for instance, if you would like to be in the city centre you could start with all the places that have an NR 1 postcode. You may also be looking for a particular type of Indian cuisine, and again this list can help you.

For recent reviews your best bet is probably tripadvisor. It's true these are only personal views, but I've often gone to places based on Tripadvisor and I find that if you pick a place that has at least ten recent reviews (that's very important - always check the review dates!) and the overall rating is 4 stars or more, it tends to work out fine.
