How can I become a Scientologist?

If you are interested in Scientology you can find an outline of their official beliefs on their website. As for becoming a Scientologist, that isn't a problem at all - they are always on the lookout for new members, in fact you quite often see Scientologists in city centres handing out questionnaires and urging people to come along to their meetings. I have had some contact with these people myself and I find their methods extremely unethical - in some countries they are actually banned.

However, anyone wishing to explore Scientology should be aware that it is a very controversial organisation. People who join usually find themselves expected to work very hard for little or no reward, unless they have money in which case they are usually expected to make large donations. The techniques used to ensure conformity include discouraging members from contact with their families and friends, and very close monitoring of their feelings and thoughts.
