Born on 24 October 1985 in Liverpool, Wayne Rooney was brought up as a Roman Catholic by his parents Thomas Wayne and Jeanette Marie Rooney. He has two younger brothers Graham Rooney and John Rooney. The three brothers all attended Our Lady and St Swithin's primary school and the De La Salle Humanities College.

John Rooney also became a professional footballer and he is playing in Major League Soccer in the US.
