Quentin Tarantino has won an Oscar jointly with writer Roger Avery in 1994 for the screenplay for Pulp Fiction, the next film after Reservoir Dogs that made him internationally famous. He was also nominated for best director for that film, but didn't win.

Since then Tarantino has also been nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay for his 2009 film Inglourious Basterds. In fact that film did get an Oscar, but it went to Christoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor.

He has won many awards from other organisations and countries. These include prizes from the US Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror films, for
films including From Dusk Till Dawn and Kill Bill. Pulp Fiction won other awards besides the Oscar, including a Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Tarantino has also been celebrated and given awards in other countries including Hungary, Norway and the Phillippines. He is one of the world's most internationally respected directors.
