How do I replace a fuse in a plug?

First, you need to take the plug out of the socket. it is necessary to remove the screw in the centre of the plug. Once the screw is removed you can open the plug.

Extract the fuse from the fuse holder. Once removed check the fuse current rating. It is very important to replace the fuse with a correctly rated replacement as an incorrectly rated fuse will not offer the intended circuit protection should a fault develop.

Once the fuse as been replaced the plug can be re-assembled.

It is now becoming very common for manufacturers to ft moulded plugs onto electrical equipment. In these cases a removable fuse holder is fitted on the side with pins. The fuse holder can be removed with a screwdriver and a new fuse inserted.
