Andy's father William Murray is a regional manager for RS McColl newsagents in Dunblane, Scotland.

Since Andy's mother Judy is always seen on the stands whenever Andy is playing, people would assume that his mother is the one who has always been there for him. However, Andy's dad Will claims he single handedly brought up the boys. Taking care of washing, cooking and maintaining a full time job. All this after his wife left them to peruse her own career when the boys were young. He also stated that he does not want publicity and is happy to stand in the the shadow.
